Sometimes i wonder why i even bother. Do you ever find that you do more for other people than you actually do for yourself? I'm like that, I end up just thinking about other peoples happiness and not my own. I don't believe in that old phrase, "you get what you give", i think there're too many selfish people in the world for that to be true.
I don't know, maybe i'm just having a bad day. It's a good thing it takes a lot more than selfish people to get me down these days.
Ages ago i said about going to the doctors, ages ago! I've finally got my hospital appointment tomorrow. Wish me luck!

For months i've been getting hits on my site by spammers or people with spyware installed, i can tell from the logs where they have referers of obvious spam sites. Also lately i've been getting attempts from people trying to abuse the url submission form using header injections. But for their information, the usage logs aren't available anywhere and the url submission form is so simple there really isn't too much to abuse.
Anyway, weekend was alright. Had a few drinks friday night and last night we won the pub quiz again. An easy £50 each we got last night, not bad for a couple of hours of quizzing. We should just become professional pub quizzers, one each night of the week with good cash prizes - could make a few bucks!
So it's almost Christmas, i don't think i've really mentioned it yet?! It's sort of crept up quickly. I've done hardly any xmas shopping, so will be out doing that this weekend. I also noticed that my logo has changed, i don't even remember having that set to change automatically - well done, me.

I put my car in for it's MOT yesterday. Only i knew it would fail. The brake fluid has been going down steadily and we were pretty sure that one of th rear cylinders had the leak. At least we were rigth with our guess... So i've got to get 2 new cylinders and a set of shoes and find a way to get them fitted. Plus i've got to get it back for it's MOT within 14 days to get the free retest.
Here's another car related rant for you. I went to fill up with petrol yesterday at tescos and only 2 lanes were open so there was a bit of a queue. Fair enough, wait, fill up and get going. So i was next in line and in the other lane (thankfully) this guy and his merc just pulled up to the pump. He gets out, goes and gets some of the disposable gloves, wipes things and finally starts filling up. That's not too bad... i guess. I finish filling up and walk back to my car, and this guy IS STILL THERE in the other lane and blocking the pump in front. He's got his bonnet up and is checking his levels!! There is a better time and place for that, and it's not while 50 people are waiting to use the pump he's sat at. I almost said something but i think i was just in shock. What a twat.

Well it looks like I've found someone to get my car sorted, so i should be able to get it through the mot on monday with a bit of luck.
I'm stuck at work between 2 people who are coughing and spluttering... I don't want a cold this winter!! I can't be ill, i've got too much to do. Funny, just as i was writing this a friend phoned me up to say she had a cold and wouldn't be at work! Bit of a coincidence, huh.
Oh, and i've got my hopsital appointment booked now too. 22nd of this month, i didnt' expect it to be so soon. They gave me the 15th first, but that's dad's birthday and as he's taking me that wouldn't be good. Then yesterday afternoon i found out that the department xmas do is the 22nd... I thought it was the 15th.

That was an eventful weekend. Good thing i took it easy friday night at least, just stayed in and watched a bit of tv, played a bit of WoW.
Saturday I managed to get my car fixed (thanks, Matt), so that's back in for it's MOT today. Then saturday night was our company xmas do. The event was at farm close to work, there was a massive marquee where they had set up dinner tables, a dance floor, dodgems (that's right!) and a casino. It was a good night, might have gone by a bit fast and got cut short when we went to Batchwoods and it was closed.
I got a rude awakening sunday morning when my Mom phoned me to check that i was alright... I had no idea what she was talking about, then i got up and looked out the window to see this huge plume of smoke coming up from Hemel Hempstead. I'd often had conversations about what would happen should Buncefield go up, and now we know. It makes a huge bang, hits 2.5 on the richter scale and could burn for days. here is the view i had sunday morning.
Then finally last night was quiz night, we won, again. Actually, we stormed it this week. We were winning through every round and have already become hated in that place. Awesome.
I'm so tired.
Wednesday 14th December 2005
I thought it was just because i had a heavy weekend, but it doesn't seem to matter how much sleep i get i can barely keep my eyes open in the morning. I would almost think that i'm coming down with something, but i refuse to get a cold this winter so it can't be that.
I cooked last night for me and a friend. I knocked up a cantonese chicken and noodles, turns out it was actually very nice. I enjoy cooking a lot more when it's not just for me.
The traffic was crazy this morning. They finally put out the big fires at Buncefield yesterday afternoon, there's just some smaller fires that they're letting burn out now. There was a fair bit of smoke still pouring out this morning.
I wish i could just wake up!

Crazy day at work yesterday, didn't leave till about 10 to 6 but even then i only left because i got a text inviting me for a drink. Turned out where i went for a drink an old work mates band was playing, I hadn't seen the guy for ages and his bad, Flicker, is awesome. I'm going to email him later to get a copy of their album. There was supposed to be another band playing that we knew too, but they broke up a few weeks ago. The drummer in Flicker (which is actually the guy i know's little brother) was fantastic, well in his element.
Going to try and go see King Kong this weekend. I saw on the news this morning that it isn't doing all that well in the states, even though the reviews are good. Dave was saying last night how Peter Jackson had seen the original as a kid when he was 8 years old and that movie is what inspired him to do what he does. He even said back then that he wanted to make King Kong - that's quite a life ambition, and an amazing one to actually fulfill.
Have a good weekend, everyone.

Ok, lots to talk about. Friday night i finished work a little late and then headed on to the pub where the support department were having their xmas drinks. And that's pretty much what happened friday night, left my car at the pub and crashed at Phils. I spent a good part of the night playing pool, and i was unstoppable. I wasn't sure that i was going to leave that place alive after beating all the locals. I only put one pound in that table all night.
Managed to get up quite early saturday to go get my car then home and get washed up. Just as i got home i got a text about an afternoon drink. I went up town and did my xmas shopping (finally) and then was back in the pub by about 3. We met lots of people that afternoon, one guy was a complete eccentric and as he left he literally jumped on the both of us - i mean full on clothesline. He turned up again later, about 9ish i guess and bought us a drink, i think he was more shocked than us just from the fact that we were still there. We decided to take our presents home then come back. Then we tried out a couple of places, the Litten Tree, that new 31 Under place.
Went to see King Kong yesterday, it's bloody long, but it is good. Well worth a visit. That big monkey sure does have some serious mood swings. After the movie it was back to the pub again and on with the pub quiz. We won again, by about 8 points this week.
I'm now feeling pretty knackered, and a bit ill, i'm losing my voice and i've got a nice cough coming on. I'm out tonight and tomorrow night, so i'll just have to push through.
Tuesday 20th December 2005
Went for a couple of drinks with Jen last night, hadn't seen her for a while. We had our chats about our terrible love lives, cars, jobs and everything else. I was fighting back the cold last night as i really wanted to see her, so i'm paying for that this morning. I'm drowning in lemsip and max strength lozenges to try and get myself sorted by tonight.
And my brain is frazzled from diving in to a C# and trying to read smart cards.
Wednesday 21st December 2005
We drove through Maylands Industrial Estate, where the buncefield depot is, for the first time this morning. I got some photos on my phone that'll i'll get out later. Those buildings have just been ripped apart, and that brand new massive distribution centre that they built was blown right through. It was quite strange, we might have pissed some people off while we were acting like tourists - although we always drove through there every day.
Went out for a few drinks in Wendover last night. It was the pub quiz team xmas night out, i guess, we spent the winnings that we had saved up and none of us spent a penny. I'm looking forward to a night in tonight and then i've got to be at the hospital early in the morning.
This building was only finished about a month or so ago..
This building was only finsihed about a century or so ago..
Destroyed

I don't know what this was, but it's not looking good now
Saturday 31st December 2005
Woah, that's probably the longest i've gone for a while without throwing anything up on here. I'm still alive.
So what's been going on. Well, i had my operation the thursday before xmas, went well and i'm healing up - no more details there. Then it was christmas last weekend, Barry came down on the saturday and we spent xmas day at dads. A bit of Burnout Revenge, food, that sort of thing.
Tuesday we went to see a band play up town, one of my friends is the lead singer, and i managed to grab a demo cd of his too. We went up town late wednesday to spend our vouchers from xmas, we got up town then realised that we had forgotten them... so we had a drink in the pub.
Last night we went out and there was quite a turnout of people in the end. Really last night was my new years celebration, i'm not bothered about going out tonight so we're just staying in unless anything turns up - i'm bloody shattered though.
Oh, and i'm signed off work till next thursday... To be honest, i'd rather have been at work than had to have the operation.
Happy New Year.
