There's a partial solor eclipse today, not that we'll be able to see it here with all the clouds. I've had a hectic last few days. On Thursday i went home early from work, i was getting nasty chest pains and having trouble breathing. It eased off on Friday a lot, but was still uncomfortable walking around. Mom arrived Friday night, then she was out saturday seeing friends and that.
I was feeling a lot better saturday and I took mom to see Land of the Dead that evening. Wasn't too bad, a little different from some of the zombie movies. Then yesterday we went up to see Barry in Nottingham. 3 hours it took to get there, 3 hours. There was a nasty accident on the M1 and it took us a good 40 minutes to do a mile. Finally we got there and went in to town and got some lunch at Nandos. I could eat some of that chicken right now... mmmm....
We got back down a lot quicker, I was shattered last night. Oh, and I'm feeling a ton better today, still getting the odd pain in my back and left side of my chest. I've got a busy week this week!!

It's been a while since I came to work with such a hangover. Damn you, JD. I almost can't bring myself to say this, but we lost the quiz last night. That's the first time we've lost this year! It was by 2 points, and we really should have had them. There's always next week, if we're not feeling too broken up about our losing still.
It was a good night, even after the losing. Somehow i ended up at Chicagos again, but the company made up for that, so it's all good. I'm out again tonight with Laura, i've a feeling i'm going to be in an even worse state tomorrow.
Mom left for New York yesterday with Gran to go to a wedding. To be honest, i'm not sure exactly who is getting married. She'll be back this time next week i think for a couple of days.
I'm starving, Dad came up with the brilliant idea of a Subway for lunch. Best idea i've heard for a long time.

We decided not to drink last night, a wise decision by the both of us. We had one drink and then went to see what was on at the cinema. It was between Revolver and A History Of Violence. We fancied a good bit of violence so we went with the second one. It was good, and no kidding about violence, I think Laura missed quite a bit of the movie hiding behind her hands.
I also spent half the night trying to remember the name of the actor in Von Ryan's Express, after telling her about El Chorro in Spain (see my photos from a few months back). I never did remember, I had to look it up this morning - Frank Sinatra, duh.

I couldn't post anything yesterday, something has changed on the server and i've only just had a chance to look at it.
Didn't get up to too much over the weekend. Worked a bit saturday morning and just chilled out saturday afternoon. I hadn't had the place to myself for the last few weeks so was nice to be able to just sit back and relax.
Sunday i went over to Dads to watch the grand prix and also to have a look at my handbrake. It was crazy loose so we sorted that out. Although i'm not sure that's gonna be the end of my brake problems, my near side front and rear both seem to be wearing a lot faster than the offside. Although there's no pulling at all. Odd.
And tonight we will be attempting to reclaim our title at the pub quiz! I really should have been swatting up, but i haven't.

We regained our title last night at the quiz!! We stormed it by 9 points ahead of second place. The guys we were swapping papers with were a little bitter, apparantly we looked like a bunch of students. Still the winnings bought us a round, but i wasn't drinking too much last night. I didn't want another hangover like last wednesday, ouch. Just had a bit of a headache when i woke up but that's all gone now.
Mom's back today, got to pick her up from Grans after work. I'm not sure when she's going back home, maybe tomorrow or friday??

It's been a kind of mad week this week. I picked Mom up on wednesday and I cooked us dinner. I made a pasta bake thing, only the cheese was lets say "mature". I did get Mom to taste it first and she said it was ok. But we were tasting for like an hour after...
That night i got a late call from Franco with some very sad news, his brother had been involved in an accident and had passed away that night. My thoughts are with you and your family, Franco.
I'm looking forward to the weekend, it's been very busy at work too. Might be going out for a quick drink tonight, a friend is down from Norfolk for an interview in Bicester so he might stop by.

Didn't mean to take a break from this, just been really busy! Not too much been going on. We lost the pub quiz last night, beaten by 3 old geeks (i'm not bitter at all). We scored 45 and they hit 54, i'd never seen a score over 50 there before so i guess they deserved it...
I've got to think of a costume for halloween, i've got till next saturday. I've also got to get a pumpkin and carve that out - should be fun, haven't done that for like 10 years. I've got a cunning plan for that, though it might go over some peoples heads at least i'll think it's good. Still, if anyone has any ideas for costumes, i'm all ears. I'm thinking something contemporary - or what i'm trying to say is, something that's cheap and doesn't require too much effort.

My car is back in the garage today! It's been about 3 months since they changed my head gasket and now it's leaking. You can see the water leaking out the front and i'm fairly sure it's leaking in to the cylinder as well. We checked the pressures over the weekend and number 2 is low.
So i'm working from home today, lucky i can do that really, i'd be pissed having to take a holiday day just because my car's not well. I'd be happier if my monitor wasn't knackered though, every now and then the whole screen gets the wobbles.

So, i went back to Aylesbury MOT Centre yesterday afternoon after they called me to say they couldn't see the leak... I pointed it out to them straight away. The manager said that replacing the head gasket again wouldn't help, it would just leak again. Riiiiiiight, so why on earth did you replace it last time if the head needed skimming? This isn't over.
I'm really tired today, really, really tired. Dad picked me up this morning and i'll crash at his tonight then he's going to give me a lift back home tomorrow. I hate being carless.

I got 1 of the things done over the weekend that i wanted to, and i had lots to do. The thing i did get done was go to the garage. After speaking to the manager on friday he said to go down there saturday, so we did. He's booked me in for next tuesday - because his mechanic is off this week... they're not charging me anything.
Other things i needed to do over the weekend, lets see. Sort out my halloween costume, get a pumpkin, buy a birthday present and some other things. Somehow i've got to do all that this week, with no car.

What a crazy week, if feels like it should be friday by now. Working 30 miles away from home and having no car really sucks, there is no public transport that will get me there - unless i spend about 4 hours on a bus or a few hours on a train then take a bus...
Monday night i stayed at my Dads again, but his inlaws are staying from tuesday to friday. He was kind enough to lend me his car last night. This morning i've arranged to stay at a mates house who lives close to work, and that's good till the end of the week. So i'm sorted now i think.
Last night was good, we won the quiz. We were sorting out our halloween plans for the weekend too. I still haven't got my stuff that i need, but neither has Laura, so we're meeting in town saturday morning and we'll get ourselves sorted out. I also need to try and get a pumpkin done saturday and buy some drinks. We got kicked out of the pub at closing, then me and Laura just went for one drink in Chicagos. They had karaoke on and everyone was terrible, i was even tempted to get up there as i'm sure i could do better. I dropped Laura home in my dads car, i think she liked the red leather.

It's a bright, sunny, warm day today. What is that all about? It's the end of October, but they say it's downhill from here on.
I watched Lost last night, got to the end and wanted to see the next one. So switched over to E4 and watched that too - so now i'm so tired i could just fall asleep right now. I'll have to catch some sleep at lunch or something.
Dave picked me up some bolts to go on my head for saturday, I'm not exactly sure what else i'm going to wear, green face paint will be in, but not sure what clothes. We'll sort it out on saturday, maybe go to some second hand shops and find some old clothes, maybe a jacket or something.
